4 Steps to kill mold in your home

Its not only important to take the right steps to combating mold in your body but also the environment you are living in. Even if you stop eating sugar, alcohol and fermented beverages to stop feeding the fungus but you are exposed to mold spores in your home or place of work then you will most likely not recover from a fungal infection.

Here are my 4 tips to combating a moldy house.

Use an Ozone Generator

Using an ozone generator in my home every few weeks to kill mold spores. You can simply purchase one on Amazon and they cost around $70. You simply close all windows and doors in your home or room and remove all humans and pets from the area as well. After you have done all the steps above you are going to let it run for 3 hours and afterwards open all the windows to air out the smell of the ozone for 60-90 minutes before returning to your home.

Helpful Tips

-Ozone is toxic so I would recommend you just quickly exit your room after turning on and off your generator.

-Plan to be out of the house/ room for 5-6 hours when you want to ozonate.

-Open all drawers and cabinets in the area you are ozonating. Ozone will only kill the spores that it can contact directly.

-Turn on all fans while airing out the room to decrease the amount of time you have to air out your home.

Cedar wood & Tea tree essential oils

  • Both essential oils are known for their antifungal properties. Cedarwood is also known to help with stress relief and tea tree oil supports the immune system with it being anti-inflammatory.
  • If you have pets, DON’T DIFFUSE TEA TREE OIL. VERY TOXIC! Use

Washing clothes with borax

Borax has a high pH level of 9.3 which makes it high alkaline thus making it very difficult for mold spores to survive and reproduce. I would highly suggest either getting rid of old clothes from home if you don’t plan on using them in the future.

Using a dehumidifier

Especially living in Hawai’i with it being humid its the best climate for mold to grow. Getting a dehumidifier would make it difficult for mold to grow and I would highly suggest getting one if you live in an area that rains a lot like here on Maui it would be Haiku and Hana.
